The Singapore botanical garden

The botanical gardens in Singapore are quite famous, not very strange when you think of it, as there’s so many plants that thrive in a tropical climate.
On probably the hottest and most humid day ever in Singapore, we went there to have a look around and it was just amazing how many species they managed to fit in there.

I have seen some of these plants in the Dominican Republic in the wild. They bring back some really good memories :-)

Monica went bananas with her camera, lot’s of great stuff to be photographed here.

These two are the carnivore type that catches flies. Apparently they slide down the container, lured by a nice scent, and they can’t get back up again.

The two plants above grew in a damp room with a thick fog of water present. What a relief it was to get in there! Singapore can be extremely hot when humidity approaches 100% and the temperature is about 35 degrees.
Now when I look back on it I actually think I had some kind of a heat stroke that day. I was completely out of breath and had no energy at all. Luckily, there was a restaurant in the middle of it all, an Italian one, and they had the ultimate life saver in a too hot environment – ice cream. :-)

This garden house was just amazingly beautiful set with the trees around it.

There were some really cool bonsais as well, but I was too beat to take good pictures of them.
