Singapore re-visited

Another short ferry ride from Bintan, and we were back in Singapore.
DSC_2784 We visited the must-sees, Raffles hotel, now with christmas decorations. Monica was quite fascinated by it, and I can only agree, it is a cool place.

Another must-do is to visit a hawkers center to get some nice food. That’s what we did. I got what I thought was dumplings, but as I was too tired that day I didn’t pay enough attention and got those doughy sweet things with chicken and vegetable filling.

Speaking of sweets, check out these baked-in sausages at a café… Yummy! Or?

Did you know that they also got the most delicios hamburger? Teriyaki burger. Hmmm. I’m not so convinced…

We met up with Mats for a Malay coffee not far away from where he live with his family. It resembled the spanish “café bon-bon”.
After some insider tips from Mats we took a long stroll along the water.

The sun setting from the beach. I didn’t think the east coast of Singapore could get this beautiful.

We continued on down the beach and got to the seafood restaurants.

We got the pepper crab, one of the Singapore classics, along side Laksa. It was really delicious, but required a good number of tissues which they actually tried to charge us for. That was wierd.

Without saying, it was no coincidence that we got a hostel in Little India as we both love Indian food.DSC_2866
So what type of food is commonplace in little India? Here we are eating some of the classics. We were so hungry here so that we really exagerrated the amount of food we ordered. I didn’t have to eat for almost a day after this. This is also what I like about little India, the food is not only delicious, it is also cheap and authentic.

On our last day we went to Singapore Zam Zam. What to eat? Murtabak of course! The most heavy dish I have had ever I think. Some kind of dough, fried in oil, then they add egg and onions, fold it over, add lots of meat, fold it again, fry a little bit more, fold, fry, fold, fry.... I had the “medium” size. Imagine what the big would be. I had problems staying awake for the rest of that day. There must have been about a weeks worth of calories in that thing.

That night we also managed to squeeze in some drinks with Sasa, an old collegue from Sweden and his girlfriend Biljana before they embarked on their round-SE-asia trip. I'm not that a big salads fan, but this evening a salad sat just excellent on top of all that heavy meat oil and egg I had for lunch.
